My H&M Makeup!

Hey Honeys! I posted a picture on Instagram recently showing all of the H&M make up that I hauled, and of course spoke about how much I loved it in the caption. It seemed a pretty popular picture however, so I thought I would post about it in more detail. I'm afraid that where I am has terrible lighting at the moment, and so I know that some swatches may appear a slightly different shade, or not show up the best. Once we get out of the dark winter phase it should all work a lot better, however!

My favourite part of what I bought has to be the blushes. I adore matte, brown toned shades, as I naturally have flushed cheeks which I do my best to cover. Therefore I stay away from too many reds and pinks, but stick to peaches and mauves. I picked up the shades Brown Sugar and Cameo Pink, which look very similar in the pan but appear quite different on skin. They're both deep shades, but Brown Sugar is more orange/brown toned whilst Cameo Pink is, as the name would suggest, a little more pink toned. Brown Sugar is a little warmer, and I think it's my favourite, though it's an extremely close call. They look their best at the back of the cheekbone, above and slightly blended into bronzer. Applied with a fluffly brush (I recommend the Real Techniques one!) they look very natural, though with some other brushes you'll have to be light handed so that they don't come off too dark. They're very pigmented, blendable and not at all chalky or powdery. I'm so glad I trusted my instincts with this brand! The majority of the shades seem to be subtle, so if you don't like the sound of these two then there's plenty more on the website that I'm sure you'll love.

I also picked up four eyeshadows, the Uptown Essentials trio and a single shadow in the shade Baci Di Dama. The eyeshadows were what everyone was raving about, and I have to say that I love the pigmentation and blend-ability (is that a word? The added hyphen will hopefully make it look better when written!). They're powder but they feel creamy on the lid, and they don't crease up at all! I was a little disappointed with my trio, because the picture online showed an olive-green shadow that in real life is silver-grey. I know you can't trust colours online at the best of times, but it was the colour that I bought the entire set for! Either way, these smokey shadows are beautiful, and although I thought I would dislike the sparkly shade, it's actually one of my favourites, as its just so, so glittery. The first shade is called Stay up Slate, the second is Anthracite and the third Infinity.

The 'Eye Colour-To-Go' eyeshadow pencils are a steal, as they're one of the cheapest products on the site. I chose the shades Golden Age and Plummy Tones, and the consistency is amazing - I can draw these onto my eyelid and it doesn't tug on the skin at all. Golden Age is beautiful, it's shimmery and pigmented and makes the perfect satin eyeshadow base. I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of Plummy Tones, it's not the most pigmented colour, and it seems to have a few random flecks of glitter here and there, putting it somewhere strange between a matte and a shimmer. I'd love to try out more of these, however!

The lipstick I purchased is in the shade Fareham Brick, and it is truly gorgeous. It's a brick red, close to a terracotta orange. It's a cream lipstick, making it very smooth to apply, and although creams aren't my favourite lipstick formula (I'm a lazy matte kind of girl! So much easier to wear throughout the day without reapplying.) I do love this lipstick. It does dry down to a matte eventually, but when fresh on the lips it's glossy and hydrating. Although it's so smooth to apply, the colour is the opposite of sheer - one layer is enough.
As for the lipliner, I have to admit that it's a little drying, but then again, what lipliners aren't? (Serious question. I have yet to find any...) It's very matte, and the shade is a colour that, like most of the things I bought, can be used as an every day shade or for a night out look. I actually wore it on Christmas day! If you hate constantly worrying about your lipstick wearing off then please give one of the H&M lip liners a go - they last forever!

This completes my H&M haul, and I'm incredibly impressed. For a shop that specialises in clothing I really wasn't expecting much, but their make up really stands out as one of the most amazing affordable brands. On top of all this, they don't test on animals, either! I honestly can't wait to get my hands on more of their stuff - they've updated the range quite a bit since I ordered my things, so make sure you check that out!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and Happy New Year to you all!
Lots of love,

Eve xo
