Urban Decay 'Naked Skin' Foundation Review

Hey Honeys! I'm coming at you today with another review, as a few people said they would be interested in hearing my thoughts on my recent purchase of the 'Naked Skin' foundation by Urban Decay. I had been hearing so many good things about the new 'All Nighter' foundation, but oxidisation apparently makes it a few shades darker once dried. For that reason, with my pale skin I didn't want to risk spending the money on something I almost certainly wouldn't be able to wear. So, instead, I decided to try an older foundation formula of theirs out. I adore the 'Naked Skin' concealer - read my review here - so I had been thinking about the matching foundation for a while.

How the Urban Decay website describes this foundation:
'With a demi-matte finish and light-diffusing spheres to help blur imperfections and look like you've been professionally retouched, this Naked foundation perfectly compliments your complexion.'
I will agree that this foundation provides a lot of coverage for something so lightweight. It dries on radiant and glowy, but it feels as though nothing there, very similar to the concealer. It hardly oxidises at all - I'm using the shade 0.5, for all of you pale people out there! - and although the shade is already a bit dark its nothing some highlighter and blending can't help.
My only issue with this foundation is how it sits on dry skin. It's an extremely thin liquid, and it takes ages to blend out, particularly using a sponge. It's almost like putting paint onto a page with a sponge; there's a suction effect and some of the foundation is pulled back up with the sponge instead of being pressed into the skin. Because of this, it begins to stick to dry patches and cake a little bit. This is the only foundation that I have ever been able to say I prefer a brush application with, as it blends a lot quicker! The Wet n Wild 'Flat Top' brush that I featured in my August favourites and have been raving about non-stop applies this product beautifully. There's still a little bit of cake on dry patches, but concealer blended over this erases the problem. Once blended, it does feel and look like skin, and it lasts all day.

A little bit of foundation on the back of my hand - you can see how thin and runny the texture is.

This is the foundation blended out slightly, just using my fingers. It looks quite messy and streaky, whilst most of my other foundations would blend in perfectly well. It would have taken me a long time to get this looking smooth!

If you're looking for a lightweight, pigmented foundation to stay on for a long time, then this is for you! However, if you're not up for around ten minutes blending every morning, you might want to avoid spending on the high price tag. I can't say that this is my favourite foundation, but I can't say it's bad either. It did, however, disappoint me a little, judging by how much I love the concealer. If you are thinking about purchasing from the 'Naked Skin' line, I would definitely recommend going for that over this foundation. Then again, this might work a lot better on oily or combination skin that doesn't have any dry patches.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post, but most importantly, I hope you found it helpful! Even though this foundation has been out for a while, I did get a couple of you asking for a review. Hopefully, you can now make up your mind on whether to purchase it or not.

Speak soon,
Eve xo
