H&M Brush Review

Hello again Honeys! Today I want to chat to you about the H&M brushes I recently purchased, as my last post about H&M makeup was such a success. I picked up 4 brushes and one sponge. They seem to stock two types of brushes, a very affordable line and then a higher quality, more expensive line. I picked my brushes up from the pricier range as I could see even through the packaging that they were better quality.

Angled Buffer Brush

I prefer to apply foundation with a sponge, but I felt that it might be a good idea to try this brush out to see if I like it more than any of the previous foundation brushes I've used. And surprisingly, I did! It still has the usual problems that foundation brushes have - they use a lot more product than a sponge, they apply it more dry and cakey, and they take about five minutes longer to blend it out - but for once I was left with a streak-free finish. I won't be replacing my every day Real Techniques 'Miracle Complexion Sponge', but I'm going to try to get into using a brush a little more often. My only gripe is that the brush is quite small, and I think that a bigger one would blend everything out a little quicker.
They did have a flat foundation brush that looked very dense and good quality, but I didn't buy it as I've never found a use for those brushes except for facemasks. I do remember seeing a few people on YouTube using this brush though, so it might be worth trying out. Please let me know if any of you have or do!

Angled Blusher Brush

I chose this brush more for contour than blush, as that's my favourite use for an angled brush, and to be honest I feel that in this brush's case it's the only use. The brush is extremely thin when turned to one side, which creates a perfect thin line of shadow on the face. I do wish it was a little bit more dense, so that I could blend prouduct out better. This seemed to be an issue with most of the powder product brushes; while the shape was correct, the density just wasn't enough and the brushes were left a bit flat. As I said though, that works for contouring with this brush. I'm just glad I didn't pick up any of the others!

Medium Shading Brush

In all honesty, I haven't had a proper chance to try this brush out yet as I haven't been wearing much makwup lately. However, I can feel that it is incredibly soft and dense, and definitely multipurpose. When on it's side, the brush can be used for the specified shading purpose: packing product onto the lid. However, when the top of this brush is used to apply shadow, it can blend product out into the crease for a more soft and blown-out effect. I can see myself travelling with this brush a lot in the future.

Crease Blending Brush

My favourite kinds of crease brushes are very fluffy, as my eyes are so hooded that cut-crease looks aren't really possible. This brush has me stepping out of my comfort zone a little bit, though, as it is quite precise. It applies a thin line of intense colour through the crease with softly blended edges. It would be perfect to do an intense crease look as it's so simple to use, this brush does everything by itself. I have extremely dry and sensitive eyelids, and this brush felt lovely and soft. I think that H&M have performed better in creating eye brushes than face, I just wish they had a few more options.

Precision Sponge

As I said earlier, sponges are my favourite way to apply foundation. So, when I saw this on sale for €2.99, I decided I may as well give it a go. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Many brands find it difficult to make cheaper alternative sponges to the BeatyBlender. The Real Technqiques sponge is my personal favourite sponge of all, though I like the 'Micro' BeautyBlender for under my under eye concealer where the RT one doesn't fit. This is the main reason I am liking this sponge, it's large enough to do foundation but the point is thin enough to fit under the eyes. It's definitely firmer than the other sponges, but it's not so solid that the foundation isn't blended. It also didn't soak up foundation as it was applying, as so many clean sponges do. I liked the outcome that this sponge gave (albeit it isn't my new favourite) and I intend to pick up a few more! It's definitely a good cheap every day product. I do hate that it's black though. I normally know when to chuck my sponges as I can see the mould growing, but with this sponge I'm going to have to be extra careful as it won't be visible. Oh well!

That concludes this blog post! I've given as honest a review as I can, and I hope it has helped some of you out. Have you ever tried these brushes? Let me know in the comments below!

Eve xo
